Indoor Plants

In the recent pandemic situation, we spent most of our time indoors, working from home or at our workplaces. In such situations, indoor plants can help us reconnect with nature in our own little way.

We all know that plants developed thousands of years before humans were walking the earth and much before humans started living in “houses”. So when we decided to bring plants into our houses and work areas as “indoor plants”, we actually brought in “outdoor, shade loving” plants into our houses as “indoor plants”.

This is an important aspect to remember because though there is a wide range of plant varieties which can live comfortably indoors, these plants too need sufficient light and good ventilation to thrive.

In addition to bringing colour, vibrancy and liveliness to the indoor decor in our homes and work areas, many indoor plants are air purifying plants. In fact, several studies have been conducted showing that certain indoor plant varieties can rid a room of harmful pollutants like ammonia, formaldehyde, toluene, xylene, carbon monoxide !!

In fact, research shows that live indoor plants not only improve air quality but also improve humidity levels, reduce stress, make people calmer and happier, speed up recovery from illness, improve concentration, productivity and creativity.

Though there are few shade loving varieties which flower (Anthuriums, Begonias, Spathiphyllums, some Orchids, etc), the non flowering varieties compensate for lack of flowering with a wide range of variety in the shape and colour of the leaves.

Indoor plant varieties can be selected to suit ones requirement depending on where the plant is to be placed and how much light is available at that place.

 Indoor plant varieties suitable as
